What keeps
happening
between you?
You may know the argument by heart. Who pushes, who retreats, what gets said, and how you both end up feeling alone. Couples therapy offers a place to become curious about the relationship you are making together.

There is more
to an argument
than its subject.
A disagreement about time, money, sex, or the dishes can carry questions about being wanted, respected, depended upon, or left out.
I work analytically with couples, attending to what each person brings and what happens between you. We consider how earlier relationships, expectations, fears, and ways of protecting yourselves become part of your life together.
The feelings that emerge in our sessions can help us understand patterns that are hard to see from inside an argument. We make room for each partner’s experience, including the differences that cannot simply be talked away.
The work can include practical changes while also exploring what keeps pulling you back into familiar difficulties.
Parenting couples
Raising children
changes a couple.
You may be devoted to your children and struggling to find each other.
A couple continues to develop, too. Becoming parents, watching children grow, or encountering illness and loss can unsettle the ways you have learned to be together. We can think about what these changes ask of each of you and of the relationship.
Parenthood brings new demands on attention, bodies, money, intimacy, and time. Differences in how you were raised can take on unexpected force. One partner may feel overburdened, another excluded; both may feel that their effort goes unseen.
I have a particular interest in working with parenting couples: understanding disagreements about children, the emotional meaning of sharing care, and what happens to your relationship when so much is required of you.
We can think together about you as parents and as partners, including the wishes and resentments that become difficult to acknowledge.

A place for
both of you.
You do not need to be parents to seek couples therapy with me. We can begin with recurring conflict, distance, changes in intimacy, or uncertainty about your relationship.
Initial meetings help us consider what brings each of you, what you hope for, and whether this way of working fits your needs. We discuss scheduling, fees, and the treatment arrangement before beginning ongoing work.
My standard session fee is $225. Please ask about the session format and current availability when you call.
